
Cristiano Cerretti is conceived by mistake, in a mustard coloured Citroën Diana, licence plates Piacenza, as a result of an incredible alcohol binge, courtesy of Greek wine. He’s brought to this world on the 3rd of December 1973, and at the moment he leaves the Mother Vagina he inconsolably cries for a month. Consequently, he is operated for inguinal hernia after 40 days of living. Ever since he was a little boy, he finds drawing to be his preferred form of expression. Not to neglect his social life, he organizes friends into his own genuine group of artists, working until all the “panettoni” of the neighbourhood became colourful. He goes on to choose the studies of a geometrician, only to become more fascinated with the girls upstairs, than with the life of working on the field. In his free time, he delights himself with painting, sculpture and photography, which in time become an inseparable working tool. At 17, thanks to the open mindedness of his parents and a cultural exchange program, he leaves his family nest to go to Los Angeles. The wheals of his skateboard enabled him to encounter the most diverse people, from the cheerleaders of “Grease” and ““Beverly Hills” to the dodgy members of Mexican gangs.This experience exponentially expands his vision of the world and further frees his imagination. He finds his first big love in a young hippy woman, twice his age, who introduces him to the arts of sex. The exciting clandestine encounters were masked behind a ceramics course, yet uncovered the most unimaginable places. Moving back to Italy, he starts architecture, where he is indoctrinated into the world of design and staging. The Erasmus scholarship enables him to live in oh so desired London, which will go to become the starting point for his pilgrimages around the world. |
He leaves the european capital in pool slippers, pareo, gigantic shades and a pineapple haircut. He never looses the opportunity to stir up the peacefull bourjois life, yet his ID card shows a picture resembling a police officer. His house has an “OPEN 24/7” free entrance policy, further nominated “Ceretti Camping” by his guests. Cristiano graduates with a final thesis called “ Una giornata da Parsifal ”. The log book of a bicycle courrier. The parallel between the Wagner’s Parsifal and the Metropolitan Inhabitant, explores the new dimensions of architecture. He finds his first employment in a creative laboratory, remaining there until he reaches the position of the Art Director. He faces various tasks, from graphic to concept design, from editing to publishing of arts projects. And it is so that his drawings find their way out through the desabling movements of the mouse, in the tiny stretches of time stolen at work. The company dynamics draws his attention towards the abuse of power in inter-personal relationships and it represents the focus of his work, mirroring the society of today. The snapshots of life unite with the erotic fantasies creating the immaginary scenes of a contemporary life. |
